Darn Tough Socks

We get it, socks are the last thing you want to get, or give, as a gift. But these Darn Tough socks mean business. Built like a tank and comfy like a Bentley. If the lifetime warranty doesn’t sell you, the fit will.

the story

The legend of Darn Tough socks, starts in the sleepy town of Northfolk, Vermont. There, for over 40 years the Cabot family manufactured “private label” socks for brands like Gap and other retailers.

Then in the 1990’s when retailers looked to outsource their production, the Cabot’s where on the brink of financial destruction. They agreed the only way they could compete was to create the highest quality sock possible.

So in 2004, Darn Tough Vermont was created; hiker’s have written love ballads about their socks ever since.

why we like it

Priced at a reasonable $21 a pair, Darn Tough’s Hiker Micro Crew socks match superior durability with all around comfort. Darn Tough’s special blend of Merino wool stays warm in the winter and cool in the summer, so no matter the weather, you’re covered.

And what about the seams? More like, what seams? We’d rather step in a bear trap than hike a mile with sock seams. With Darn Tough’s Seamless Technology®, uncomfortable seams and stitchings are a thing of the past. It’s hard to even figure out how these things are made. The result is a great fit that won’t chafe with activity.

Plus, you can’t beat Darn Tough’s lifetime warranty. Just send in your socks, no matter how old, torn, or holey, and the sock craftsmen at Darn Tough will replace them without question.

the competition

Yes, we like Darn Tough, but there are other good alternatives you can consider. Some cheaper (SmartWool $18.95) and others more stylish (Stance $15.95), but all things considered Darn Tough wins in the categories that matter: comfort, durability, and warmth. And like we said, there’s no beating that warranty.
