So what happens when a German cycling icon gets fed up with cheap, plastic bike accessories?
He makes his own company.
Founded in 2007 by Micki Kozuschek, Lezyne creates well engineered bike accessories out of quality materials like CNC aluminum and carbon. The result: rock solid products that last a lifetime.
As far as bike hand pumps go, the Lezyne Pressure Drive is bullet-proof. It just blows, man.
The body is CNC aluminum and comes in three anodized colors. For the non-engineering reader, that means it’s shiny, light, and super strong.
The pump is compatible with every valve you’ll find on bike tires (schrader and presta). If you don’t know the difference, don’t fear. The Pressure Drive will work, capable of pushing a respectable 120 psi.
Apart from the build quality, this pump also excels in its ease of use. The “ABS Flex Hose” (AKA pump hose) makes pumping up the tires easier than other pump heads we’ve used. And the threaded connection securely attached the pump to the tire and eliminated leaks.
And if you’re a hardcore bike enthusiast, you’ll be pleased to know that all the internal seals are replaceable. So this could actually be the last pump you buy. Scary huh?
There are a ton of handheld bike pumps on the market, but most are junk.
If you’re on a budget, you can’t go wrong with the Lezyne Sport Drive ($19.99). Same quality construction as the Pressure Drive, but a tad heavier and longer.
Overall, the Pressure Drive wins out with it’s high marks for durability, weight, use, and CNC’d good looks.
