These Five AI Startups Are Cool AF

AI is absolutely everywhere, and for good reason: It has the potential to change everything.

From video games and fast food to medicine, law, and customer service, companies are finding AI-powered ways to innovate across industries.

But there's almost too much AI-related news right now, making it hard to sort through the noise and learn about the businesses innovating in the space.

We're here to fix that. Below, we've rounded up five AI companies that are, well, cool AF:

1. Abridge

Health care providers are busier than ever before, but the time-consuming notes they need to log after each patient visit haven't gone away.

To solve this, Abridge captures appointment audio in real time before transcribing the conversation between doctor and patient and pulling out relevant information to write a note after the visit.

The app not only makes note writing faster, but also it captures small details that a health care provider might struggle to recall after the visit, and it streamlines the next steps with plans for actionable follow-up care.

2. Darrow

Darrow has a lofty mission: to find and resolve every legal violation. You read that right, every violation.

A goal that large relies on the ability to analyze massive amounts of data, which is exactly what AI does best.

Darrow scans publicly available data from social media, litigation records, news articles, and financial records to detect possible legal violations. Case reports are then delivered to law professionals, and case matching can help align lawyers with cases that fall within their expertise.

Once a case is taken on, lawyers also get updated intelligence reports related to the case, predictions on the financial value of the case, and help connecting with possible victims in the case.

3. D-ID

Ever wished you could put a face to ChatGPT while you're having a conversation with it?

It's no longer a sci-fi fantasy: D-ID's AI technology generates photo-realistic humans and pairs it with the language processing of ChatGPT to create conversational videos.

DI-D has already been used to generate 100m lifelike avatars that were able to turn text into vocalized speech, but its ChatGPT integration now allows the avatars to interact with users in live conversations.

The technology also has an application programming interface (API) that lets developers build AI-powered avatar experiences for specific business use cases, such as customer service interactions.

4. Karakuri

If there's one thing we want to see revolutionized, it's french fries. And Karakuri is on it with smart kitchen automation that will streamline kitchen processes for fast casual restaurants.

One of the company's products, Fryr, pairs AI and robotics to automate fry service lines. The technology saves time, reduces waste, and makes sure french fries are always done the moment you need them.

Semblr, you guessed it, assembles meals with robotic food dispensers and can deliver a high volume of personalized meals in minutes.

5. Latitude

Ever wanted to make your own video game? Now you can sort of. Latitude is a gaming company making AI-powered, immersive games where players can chart their own paths.

Their first AI game installment, AI Dungeon, is free to play online and asks users to enter their chosen actions before AI will continue the story as they've written it.

This opens up a world of possibilities in gaming, where players traditionally could only choose from a finite number of actions within a game.
