The Founder of Pandora is Speaking at Hustle Con

Here's how we did it

The Founder of Pandora is Speaking at Hustle Con

Tim Westergren, the founder of Pandora, is this year’s keynote speaker at Hustle Con.

If you live under a rock and haven’t heard of Pandora, here’s a refresher:

  • They have 81.5 million monthly users and $900m in annual revenue
  • For the first two years Tim was in $400,000 of debt and couldn’t pay employees
  • Tim doesn’t know how to code

When John and I told our buds that Tim was the keynote, they all asked the same question: how’d you convince him to come?

So here’s the answer: It started with a cold email. And ended with lots and lots of follow up, persistence, and persuasion.

We decided to publish our entire email convo with Tim. This way, regardless if you come to Hustle Con, you can steal our strategy and cold email like a boss.

At Hustle Con, Tim will teach how he built the first Pandora prototype and when a founder should pivot (in the beginning, Pandora was wayyy different than what it is now).

And by the way…use the code “music” in the next 24 hours for a 10% discount.

Here’s my cold email to Tim:

Note: the photo in the email was actually a gif. Details here.

If there’s anything you can learn here it’s the power of action. Truthfully, we didn’t think Tim would actually see our email. And if he did, the chance of him coming (we thought) were slim. But it worked. Why? Because hustling works…that’s why.

If you wanna learn how to cold email someone like a boss, check out our post explaining how to write better emails. I guarantee it’ll change your life.  And if you have no idea how to get in touch with ballers, this post will give you step-by-step instructions on how to contact anyone.

Hope to see you all soon at Hustle Con,

-Sam

PS: don’t forget to use the code “music” for a 10% discount off your Hustle Con ticket.
