Waymo becomes first company to get fully driverless vehicles on California roads

Alphabet’s self-driving unit Waymo has been granted the first permit in California to begin fully driverless testing on public roads (starting with a limited geographic area in Silicon Valley).

While Waymo is officially the first in California, according to TechCrunch, there is at least one other company “waiting in the wings.”
